Chetak is a 16hh 9yo standardbred gelding with loads of character. Still green in many ways but knows the basics. Like most Standardbreds he's not a fan of arena work and can be quite lazy in an arena. However, when asked to will do anything to please his rider. He requires a soft but assertive rider.
He is best suited as a trail riding horse and this is where you will get the best out of him. He loves exploring and letting loose in the bush. Is happy in groups or out on his own. Not fused either behind or will confidently serge ahead of the pack. Nothing seems to phase him and is always calm in any situation. Is used regularly as a buddy when taking freshly broken horses on their first trail rides due to his relaxed nature.
He does not pace. Traditions from walk, trot, canter smoothly and has the most beautiful rocking chair canter. Is not too forward and never rushes when changing paces, also with good brakes.
Chet is a windsucker but this does not affect him in anyway.
He is definitely not suitable for beginners, even though has had many beginners on him in a controlled environment and he was an angel. This is only due to he likes to be cheeky with new riders and attempts to test them by being stubborn and stomping his feet in a child like tantrum for about 5-10mins, only does this in the arena. Would never bite, kick, bolt or buck but tries to give the impression he would by lifting his bum when he stomps his feet. When you know him it's quite funny his feeble attempt at being naughty and he gives up and gets to work quite quickly when he realises you won't stand for it. This however, automatically scares beginners to either hop straight off or just give up and take him out on a trail which he loves and he wins. So need someone who is confident to see through his games. Prefer someone who is confident in walk, trot, canter, with soft hands.
He is on 140acres, with 2 riding arenas and loads of trails. The Estuary is just down the road as well. Lease covers all gear, feed, farrier, teeth and vet. Just come and ride.
